Bringing horsepower to the arena and the camera.
About Me
Hi, I’m Shelby Waggoner—a barrel racer, horse trainer, and photographer with a passion for bringing out the best in both horses and people.
I’ve been riding since I was 3 years old, started barrel racing and training in high school, and began training for the public in 2018—starting colts and taking in anything I could get. That same year, I worked for a barrel horse trainer, which led to getting more barrel and futurity horses, and I quickly found success in training and selling horses.
In 2022, I got my WPRA permit and placed 11th at the Permit Finals, staying just a few tenths out of placing at most rodeos. 2023 was another big year—I worked for an equine vet to gain more knowledge, placed 2nd at the Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo, and continued training and selling barrel horses while competing. Then, in 2024, I won the Bryan Pro Rodeo with a 16.8 on a standard and won the 1D buckle at Lightning Bar, placing top 4 at every race I entered.
Alongside my passion for horses, I’ve built a career in photography and media. I got my first camera in 2018, started taking photos for others in 2020, and by 2022, I upgraded to high-end equipment and took my business to the next level. Today, I capture everything from barrel racing action shots to social media content, sale horse photography, and branding work.
In June 2024, we bought land to start building our dream facility—a place designed for training top-tier barrel horses and offering high-quality services. Our plans include two homes, a shop with an apartment, a barn, big turnouts, a walker, a round pen, and a large outdoor arena.
Oh, and did I mention? I’m also expecting a baby girl in May 2025—so life is about to get even busier!
Whether it’s training a winning run, capturing the perfect shot, or helping riders build confidence, I love every part of what I do. Thanks for being here!
