These halters are made from 3/16” waxed lariat rope, the same style of rope used for roping. The waxed rope gives the halter a firm feel, helps it hold its shape, and makes it extremely durable for everyday use around the barn.
Each halter features the same ring and hook design as my original halters. The hook allows for quick on and off with no tying knots, and if a horse sets back you can simply unhook it instead of struggling with a tightened rope halter. The center ring under the chin also provides a better connection point for lunging, helping keep the halter centered instead of pulling into the horse’s eye.
Because these halters are made from actual lariat ropes, color availability depends on what is currently in stock when I go to purchase the rope. I personally select the ropes from Teskey’s and other surrounding stores, so occasionally a color may be unavailable. If the color you choose is sold out when I go to buy the rope, I will contact you with similar options before making your halter. Each lariat halter also uses an entire rope, which naturally limits how many can be made in each color.
While the design is built to be strong and practical, the lariat versions are still being field-tested, so I cannot officially guarantee they are completely “horse proof” yet like my stiff cord halters. Lariat ropes are also designed for use in the arena and may fade over time when exposed to sun and everyday barn use.
